Smart Yoga for Stiff People (Melanie Farmer)

Smart Yoga for Stiff People

Class prioritizes asana and functional movement stabilizing pelvis and thoracic sling before general mobilization. In addition, when appropriate, class includes exercises and movement addressing vestibular challenges due to equestrian injury. As an ayurvedic practitioner and LMT, I apply ayurvedic principles to understanding how proprioception describes the awareness of posture, movement, and changes in equilibrium and the knowledge of position, weight, and resistance of objects in relation to the body.  In addition, kinesthesia refers to the ability to perceive the extent, direction, or weight of movement. Exteroception refers to your five senses that help you process what you see, hear, smell, taste, and touch. Interoception involves sensory perceptions from inside your body, such as changes in temperature, tension, or pain. These sensations give you feedback about whether you are hungry, thirsty, unwell, or sleepy, vital information for effective yogic-ayurvedic self-care.
